Ultrafiltration (UF)

Ultrafiltration Systems, Ultra Filtration Systems, Ultrafiltration (UF) SystemsAquaplan Engineers design, manufacture, install and service Ultrafiltration systems.
These systems can be used as stand-alone filtration process or as pre-treatment to further processes. This includes advising the clients from conceptual design phase, most suitable pre-treatment steps as well as the construction and installation of the ultrafiltration system as a completely commissioned system.

To be able to efficiently and effectively treat water the water treatment steps proposed generally require a combination of different methods and technologies. This combination depends on the intended purpose of the cleaned water (e.g. drinking water, industrial process water or water intended for special industrial applications. Ultrafiltration as a breakthrough technology has positioned itself as a central role in this mix of physical, chemical and mechanical processing methods.

Ultrafiltration offers significant advantages over conventional water treatment methods:

  1. Removal of germs, bacteria, viruses and all types of suspended solids
  2. No additional chemicals are needed over and above conventional treatment processes
  3. The quality of the treated water remains the same regardless of the degree of contamination of the original water
  4. Simple and safe to operate

Ultrafiltration is characterized by cost-effective operating concepts. These can also have knock-on benefits for other water treatment technologies when ultrafiltration is used in combination with these methods in order to exploit its advantages.

In comparison to conventional water treatment processes, the advantage of ultrafiltration as a filter technology is its outstanding ability to remove germs and micro organisms from water. At around 20 nm, the pores of the membrane are small enough to prevent even viruses from passing through them. The process itself is simple and safe to perform and does not require the addition of any further chemical disinfectants.

Ultrafiltration systems are designed for fully automatic operation. A control mechanism is used to control the various operating modes of the ultrafiltration process: filtration, cleaning and backwashing.

We conduct the following services with regards to UF processes:

  • Refurbishment and optimisation of older UF processes
  • Performance studies to current systems
  • Expansion studies and construction to current systems that are too small
  • New skid mounted installations
  • Manufacturing of mobile units
  • Full turn key construction of new plants
  • Process consulting
  • Pilot testing systems
